Dandelions – Helpful to Diabetics

Maria Treben, in her book, “Health from God’s Pharmacy” writes, “While on a cure in Jugoslavia I noticed the guests received a small bowl of dandelion greens besides the fresh salads. Asked why, the physician, a well-known liver specialist, told me that dandelion has a beneficial effect on the liver. Today I know that the fresh stems of the flower, five to six pieces, chewed daily bring swift relief in chronic inflammation of the liver (sharp pain felt in the region of the lower corner of the right shoulder blade). As long as the plant is in flower, diabetics should eat up to 10 fresh stems daily.” She tells us this will stabilize blood sugar levels. Try this, it will not hurt you and it may be helpful.

I would add, chew them very well. They are a bit bitter but you can get accustomed to the flavor and I would rather do that than take drugs, any day! You may wonder why it talks about benefiting the liver, and then mentions diabetes. If you have diabetes you are sure to have an unhealthy liver. When you heal the liver, it helps your sugar levels to improve. Thus your diabetes may be healed.

These herbs help the body to heal while a drug simply masks the symptoms and does not heal. If you start on diabetic drugs, unless you change your diet, you will need more and more drugs. If you learn how to use herbs and diet, you can often heal diabetes and enjoy good health without drugs.

Caution – If you are doing this you must check your sugar levels often so that you can adjust your insulin to your need.  If you are pre-diabetic, this may keep you from needing to go on insulin.  If it helps just one person like it helped us, I will be glad.

Burdock for Blood Sugar

Matthew Wood, herbalist, tells us that burdock helps to stabilize blood sugar by reducing the amount of sugar picked up in the intestines. Stephen Buhner, author of “Healing Lyme,” states that the inulin contained in the roots “exert a beneficial effect on normalizing blood sugar levels”. This helps reduce elevated blood sugar and benefits both the pancreas and liver. This is a very interesting fact as it also helps with healing the liver. Try it for blood sugar imbalances and see if it will help your sugar levels normalize. You will likely need to take it for a few months if you want to do this. Drink two to three cups of tea daily. If you would like to speed the process, change your diet to many raw veggies and fruits, with one meal a day brown rice and beans and you will watch amazing things happen. Again, it will usually take at least a month to see really stable results. Purchase a blood sugar monitor at Walmart and test your sugar levels daily every morning when you wake up and before eating anything. Watch the numbers stabilize.

Lichen Planus and maybe other Lichen varieties

A lady who had Lichen Planus, says, “When I first was diagnosed with Lichen Planus I immediately hunted for any advice on how to make this embarrassing skin problem go away. One year later, I found something that works for ME! Hopefully, it will work for someone else. I take Burdock Root, 6 capsules per day. I keep pure Rose Hip oil on the “sores” as much as possible. I put it on throughout the day. I also use Vitamin E oil, once a day, usually at night. This routine took about 4 weeks for me to really see the benefits. The sores heal faster and show up less often. My legs are nearly clear now.”

I suspect that doing this for other varieties of Lichens may help as well.  I would also drink two cups of burdock root tea daily for a few weeks to purify the blood.  Do not like the taste?  Try sweetening it with honey or adding peppermint leaves when the root has been simmered at least 20 minutes.
